Streamline Delivery Process for a Logistic Company

CHALLENGE

Shipping department of a global logistic company is very busy every day.

Before their cargo team start delivery every morning, they need to plan the truck routes and dispatch the orders manually, which includes arranging and prioritizing the orders according to the location and distance.

After delivery, they also need to manually verify the address and chop in collected shipment statements by eyeball checking, to ensure correct destination was reached. Occasionally, the chops of different branches under same company are very similar which only the digits are different, and it makes the task more difficult.

To conclude, it was a labor intensive and time consuming work, and sometimes error prone.

SOLUTION

WCL helped the client to design a comprehensive solution to automate this labor intensive process:-

Before delivery:

First, The delivery note is transformed from paper form to machine readable format. Then, the computer helps the client to sort and prioritize the orders according to destination.

After delivery:

The shipment statement is transformed from paper form to machine readable format, then the computer would verify the delivery address and also the company chop against the database. Once the verification finished, the receipt is recorded to database automatically.
